Still can't believe I got one of these Falcons so quick
I really was expecting a long wait on this one. Only got it about a week ago, so it's all WIP early stage pics for now, but I'll try and add more as it grows.
As for the casting, I think they done a superb job on it. It really does look right and having chopped mine already theres a few small points to note for you guys doing a custom. The front end is all easy cutting and filing depending on what version you're making, and the black interior plastic trim extends through the car to the front for the headlights- Great! as once these are cut off, and you cut the slot in the bonnet/hood, you then have a nice rest for your motor to sit on!
Same with the rear window- If you carefully cut the clear window insert around the mold line it looks just right when fitted and leaves a sharp 'leg' tapering down on each side from the rear quarters. These'll still rest on the black interior trim and stop the clear screen from tilting down at the back. If you just cut it straight across it'd be easier but you'd have to glue it (Ugh!) to stop it tilting.
One minor downside- the rear rivet post is (unsurprisingly) smack where the back needs to be cut for the open back version with the fuel tanks- I've cut mine out leaving a small projection where the post is. This will give enough visual depth into the back of the car once the fuel and tanks are in. I'll step these into the back so it'll look 3-D once it's done. It wouldn't look as good if the tanks were only half-rounds fixed on the surface.
PS- Another point is the wheels/axles. Can't see any probs changing the front but the back will need a lot of adjustment to get the ride height ok and the wheels just poking from the arches.
Thanks 4 lookin'
