Okay, I'm getting two questions from these pics- Is this supposed to be the original car (likely because of the age of this model) we saw in the TV series, i.e. is Rogen's Hornet supposed to be a successor/descendant of Van (retch)? Once again, for a show that Rogen said had no fans or memorable qualities, they sure seem tied to the iconic elements of the series.

And did Dean Jeffries get anything at all from this lift of his original lines and concepts? If the man got his due, I just might consider reversing some of my opinions about Rogen. If they ripped him off without any credit or consideration, I'll really be ticked off. And if they involved Barris or mistakenly credit George...

Here's how I see my previous two questions being answered by the Comicon coverage:

1) Seth says they tried to find a modern design and conferred w/ auto makers about a futuristic car- Seth's first idea was to re-invent everything and had no loyalty to the series here. It must've been complicated by Detroit's collapse, as his project was obviously not a priority. His "long trip" brought him back to the cold fact that he couldn't improve on the original...so he copied it. This isn't a generational Green Hornet, just one who's best ideas were put onscreen in 1968.

2) Seth is mining love for the old show, something he went to great lengths to dismiss before...even Gondry calls the lines of the car "timeless" while updating the gadgets with the latest technology...and incidentally copying the look, placement and function of much of what Dean Jeffries put in the original. While adding too much chrome and pimping it up. Never once does either one so much as mention the name of the man who gifted them with the single iconic element the publicity for this film depends entirely on now- MR. DEAN JEFFRIES.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there's been compensation or credit arranged. But if that was the case, the best publicity possible, to win back the affections of the alienated GH fans would be to trumpet to the rafters that: "Guess what? We found that we couldn't improve on perfection, so we went to THE GUY and got his blessing." Without Van on this thing, getting Dean on board would've been a real coup.

We're still getting the "This is gonna be so cool!", like watching Flounder get jazzed in "Animal House" just before everything goes to hell. Seth's still playing at being the Green Hornet to tell his usual everyman story without ever giving us the intelligent capable GH we want. If he screwed Dean Jeffries in the process...I wont be surprised, but I'll be very disgusted.
