This was pretty easy to do.
I spent a bit of time attempting to find the right color, it was tricky just using screen grabs but finally found some pics of the original car. Hobby shops didn't have the color I wanted, so went to car parts store and got Dupli-Color Auto Spray brand Light Blue Metallic. Letting dry in sun worked great.

The car is a vintage Corgi (Whizzwheels). I think it is about 1/50th scale. These are no longer made. So ebay was the only way to find one. They did make a smaller 1/63 scale too.
I had a red one already, but it was so nice I didn't want to paint over it. So I found the nasty greenish one to rescue.

Nothing super amazing, I just drilled out the top of the three rivets on the bottom, popped it open, after that everything comes apart nicely for painting. Left enough to super glue back together later.

The little red jewels for the rear tail lights pop out easily so no need to mask over them.

Had to mask around the back window area to change the "steps" from silver to black.

Red for interior, black for anything you might see through the wheel wells.

Regular model paint and tiny brush to get the parking lights.


Printed up some license plates using photoshop on some printable vinyl sticker paper I have.


Yes the movie is very violent/strange even funny film (especially for it's time), but it is a cult classic, the novel even better, (with it's final chapter that was not included in the film), and the messages on crime and punishment are still relevant. Popular with the midnight movie and punk crowd.


Bit of trivia, the license plates first four letters... DAV, is a reference to Kubricks 2001 A Space Odyssey primary charcter, Dave Bowman. Maybe the rest of the plate means something too, but I can't figure it out.

I suppose I could have gone farther with this and painted the cockpit window frames body color, but I decided that on this scale, keeping it a little more factory looking was classier, plus the plastic is blue tinted already.

Maybe some custom rims would have been another thing to do.
