Star Car Sightings |
Lead | |
|
A good idea was brought up in another thread. If you happen to snap a pic of a Star Car in your neighborhood, at the mall, at a car show, etc., post it here
in this thread. I'll start things off with my Bumblebee sighting on Sunday, August 10:

Here is a sample of what I've got to see at car shows and museums, some are actual movie props and some are clones.
Real Movie Car from the Italian Job
Real Movie car from the Starsky and Hutch movie.
Not sure if these were real or not, but Paul Lemat and Cindy Williams were signing autographs at the table in front later in the day
Vin Deisels car from the end of Fast and the Furious Tokoyo Drift.

That is treasure of Movie Cars, Nascar Herbie #10 aka Horsepower 1 ( 1 of 3 ). Herbie ( Second Picture ) isn't Original but it's very nice/cool
looking replica. American Griffiti Cars are wonderful. As for the rest, very awesome indeed.

Cant believe I didnt think of this before- Went to auction of the original Panthermobile as used in the opening and closing credits of the
cartoon. Cant believe that after all those years its ended up in the cold and rainy UK !!
It's in a bit of a mess though- the current paintjob its got may be well polished but thats as far as it goes !! When compared to its original as-built spec its a mess !! All of the cockpit is gutted, as is all the inside trim in the back, and the bright 'barbie' pink paint is enough to make anyone sick from 300 yards away.......
The one thing that amazed me most was how low the car is- If you look at the pic where the guy is leaning on the back he's slouching against it- if you stand up straight next to it its WAIST height !! My mate's got an S1 Lotus Esprit which is probably an inch or so lower, but the Panthermobiles 23 foot long and 6 foot 6 wide !! Still amazing to see the real thing over here after all those years, and my 2 girls got to sit in the cockpit for photos which was pretty cool !!

Star Car Club started a new event at Pumpkin Festival for 2 days. Saturday, Mad Max and Starsky & Hutch pulled out, so Herbie took the main event and
welcomed his greatest come back after his last show in August.

How about "KITT" that I sighted late last year my local airport carpark.... This was no fancy car event either.. Just a regular carpark and you
don't often see KITT in my country... By chance, I did! Imagine my surprise!!! It might not be a perfect replica, but its good enough for me! Note that my
country doesn't bring in Pontiac vehicles.. So I'm not sure how this person converted his car to look close to the classic KITT..... Great effort!
